Today we have something very special to announce. We’re proud to tell you that RoboVM has been acquired, and we’re now part of the Xamarin family! This is very exciting for all of us, not only those of us here on the RoboVM team, but also for you as RoboVM customers and developers.
What does this mean for RoboVM?
Being a part of Xamarin will enable us to accelerate our roadmap as we grow to address the needs of cross-platform developers building native mobile apps in Java. You’ll see this in a larger RoboVM development team, improved documentation and support, and more resources for community evangelism and marketing of RoboVM. Immediately, we will begin work to extend Xamarin’s lifecycle products, Xamarin Test Cloud and Xamarin Insights, to all RoboVM developers. All of these elements will make it easier for you to build great mobile apps with RoboVM, and we are incredibly excited about the possibilities for making your life easier.
RoboVM will continue to operate as a separate team and brand so that we can focus solely on the needs of Java developers. Being a small, nimble, focused team has helped us accomplish a lot this past year—such as the release of RoboVM Studio, improved performance and documentation, and same day support for iOS 9 — and we want to continue to execute on our vision. For example, yesterday we released RoboVM 1.9, which includes improved setup, beautiful new samples, improved documentation, and bug fixes.
There are many similarities between Xamarin and RoboVM, and going forward we see great opportunities to learn from each other and to help you go mobile faster and more successfully.
RoboVM has an amazing community!
Many of you have believed in RoboVM since our earliest days, and today’s news validates those beliefs. Xamarin’s experience bringing over 1 million developers to mobile will be a huge help as the RoboVM community grows to new heights.
The acquisition will help you get more out of your choice of RoboVM for your mobile strategy, and will bring a larger, richer ecosystem for mobile development to all Java developers.
